Scottish Basket Hilted Broad Sword c 1680

£7,950.00

A very interesting sword the hilt is marked AI/G and is very similar to a sword which was featured in an article published in the The Seventh Park Lane Arms Fair Catalogue. It is noted in this article that evidence suggest that attribution of the two signatures IN/G and AI/G should be to the smiths John Napier and Alexander Jaffrey who worked in the second half of the 17th century. The sword is of the same in design looking at the images detailed however the pommel seems to be of a slightly different decoration. Heavy fighting blade with various armours marking and worn leather grip. I have detailed images of the article for reference.
