Scottish Basket Hilt Sword by Wilkinson


Victorian Scottish Basket Hilt Sword by Wilkinson number 14260 dating it to 1866 Regulation basket hilt with fish skin grip bound with silver wire and removable pommel to allow cross guard to be fitted. Excellent broad sword fighting blade with owner initials and proof plug to one side and family crest to reverse and Henry Wilkinson London plus two small central fullers complete with steel scabbard with two loose rings overall length 100cm blade 83cm The sword was purchased by Mr Gandy for G F Guyon Esq who appears in the London Gazette as Major G F Guyon Royal Fusiliers City of London Regiment 1886 further research required.
