British Swinburn Double Barralled Smoothbore Carbine

Designed by General Jacobs and made by Swinburn & Son in 1860. Twist .75 calibre smoothbore barrels with swivel captive secured at the muzzle to allow use in both barrels. There is a side bar to the LHS of the stock. Half stocked with iron mounts and scroll trigger guard, with an inset patch box on the RHS of butt. Butt cap tang is marked in three lines Scinde – Irregular – Horse. The carbine has back action locks both marked Swinburn & Son 1860 with twin nipples and heavy hammers. The makers initials over No 2 are marked on the top barrel tang and in the stock behind the trigger guard.
