Spanish 1843 Pioneers / Artillery Officers version short Sword. – 116


One piece brass casting consisting of grip, crossguard and Lion’s head pommel.  The grip has rows of V shaped ‘Fur’ down to the crossguard.  The straight crossguard tapers toward the decorative enlarged  round quillons.  The blade is short, broad, single edged, and unfullered with a clipped point, having traces of the red buffer at the top of the shoulder.  In its brass mounted black leather scabbard.  The locket has a ‘bar’ frog loop and the chape has a ball tip.
