Scottish presentation sword with solid silver hilt, presented in July 1889 to the best swordman in the regiment by the Right Honorable The Earl of Haddington Lt Colonel commanding The Lothian and Berwickshire YC. Excellent hilt with decoration to the hilt and backstrap, fish skin grip with silver wire, slightly curved blade which has darkend with age and engraved with presentation VR and crown all surrounded by floral decoration. No visible hallamrks but the hilt has been fully tested as silver and the sword is detailed in the bookSwords and Sword Makers of England and Scotland by Richard H Bezdek page 318 complete with steel scabbard with two loose rings Length 105cm – blade 90cm
