Henry Alexander Schank Esq of Castlerig and Gleniston entered the army as Ensign in the 91st in 1871 became Capt. in the 71st Highland Light Infantry in 1880 and served in the Zulu war of 1879, and in the Egyptian war of 1882 Cross hilt sword with fish skin grip and correct pommel, the blade broad sword with two fullers with good clear engraving one side with regimental details and crown the reverse with owner crest and his name Alexa Schank 1st HLI dated March 1884 complete with steel scabbard, maker marked Harvey Birmingham overall length 96cm the blade 92cm please note the sword is slightly smaller in width to a regulation sword however the correct length
