Scottish Officer’s 1798 Pat Broad Sword, brass basket hilt sword introduced to the Scottish Highland regiments in 1798 and only replaced by the regulation 1828 pattern sword so this pattern of sword was used throughout the Napoleonic War period. The brass basket fitted with wire bound fish skin grip and dome pommel. Straight double edged broad sword blade with short central please note one front bar slightly bent not uncommon on brass basket hilt swords overall length 99cm blade length 84cm
