A black lacquered cloth body, leather visor, and distinctive four-sided trencher top. There is a band of red cloth around the base of the mortar board top, trimmed in gold braid and a matching red cloth band also runs along the base of the skull cap, likewise trimmed in gold braid. A black horse-hair plume is mounted to the left front quarter of the mortar board. A brass Polish eagle plate adorns the front of the helmet affixed by split pins. The brass chin scales are held to the helmet with conical brass bosses and complete with leather and silk liners.
