German Comb Morion 17th century with two-piece skull rising to a high turned comb with a plume-holder at the rear, embossed on each side of the skull with a large fleur-de-lys in low-relief, down turned brim curving up to a point fore and aft secured by 2 rivets, with turned border, the base of the skull with lining rivets on embossed brass floret-shaped washers the helmet re-blackened. Notes: Of the type associated with the Munich Town Guard. The fleur-de-lys is the symbol of the Virgin Mary to whom the Munich Town Guard was dedicated
