British Heavy Cavalry Basket Hilt Sword or Irish Hilt variation, according to Neumann 265.S. Iron basket hilt of heavy flattened bars forming a cross with additional vertical to the right and a cross in an oval to the back. The panels flank a solid oval conjoining its vertical bars. Domed pommel with wide button. The grip is fish skin secured bt twisted silver wire with turks heads to top and bottom. The blade single edged with F E R A R A stamped in the fuller each side slightly faded on one side.
