Victorian Royal Engineers Sword By Wilkinson Sword number 11688 7th January 1682 with owner name, crest and motto. The sword belonged to Major H Champernowne Royal Engineers and was in China and Straites Settlements c 1889. Regulation brass hilt with leather grip bound with brass wire. The slightly curved blade with excellent deep Victorian engraving VR and Crown with the reverse detailing Royal engineers, family crest motto and H Champernowne below. Proof plug and marked Henry Wilkinson complete with steel scabbard note both throat screws missing overall length 98cm blade 82.5cm
