British 1832 pattern 2nd Lifeguards Officers dress sword in original condition. Regulation elaborately decorated brass hilt and scrolled hilt bars has a small crack that does not go right through see photos. The blade is maker marked to Andrews of Pall Mall, London. The blade has the flaming grenade and a scrolled V.R.motif repeated to both sides. Heavily influenced by contemporary French military swords, these swords were only carried by officers of this elite British Army regiment and very few were ever produced with a very small number surviving. Complete officer’s dress knot and scabbard note bottom drag missing overall length 106cm blade 91cm
