A cased pair of percussion Samuel & Charles Howdah Pistols. Over and under slab sided barrels displaying floral engraved decoration to both sides and fitted with captive rammers both fitting into spring loaded clips. The top of the barrels engraved with SamL & C Smith Princes Street, Leicester Square London which is repeated on both lock plates. The hammers, trigger guards and lock plates all with matching floral engraving complete with chequered grips with silver escutcheon. In its original lined and fitted oak case with accessories including Sykes patent cylindrical brass mounted powder flask in good condition, steel bullet mould, nipple-wrenches each with flattened figured handle, and lead balls, the lid with Samuel & Charles Smith trade label stating ‘Gun Makers to His Majesty & His Royal Highness The Duke of Gloucester’ and ‘Sons of the Late William Smith’, used circa 1827-1845, the exterior with brass escutcheon and flush-fitting brass carrying handle, London proof marks.
