Presentation 1822 Infantry Officers Sword. Early pattern with pipe backed, spear pointed fighting blade. Three bar gilt brass Gothic guard with fixed side guard and crowned GR, stepped pommel and acanthus backstrap. Black fish skin grip and triple gilt wire, black leather liner. In its Gilt brass Officer scabbard with age repair please see images. The Scabbard engraved with the following presentation: This sword was kindly given to Henry W Field by his valued cousin Mrs Richardson as a memento of her late much esteemed brother Colonel Samuel Rudyard RA and superintendent of the Royal Military Repository Woolwich who died 19th of July 1847’ Samuel Rudyard was Second Captain in Major W. Lloyds Brigade at Quatre Bras and Waterloo.
