Grenadier Guards Officer’s Sword by Wilkinson Sword London number 6767 special order with scroll hilt, chequered back strap and pommel cap. The Toledo blade in super condition engraved with Victorian crown flaming grenade with owner initials and crest the reverse with single battle honour SEVASTOPOL. The top edge of the sword dated May 1856 and number 6767 the bottom edge Henry Wilkinson Pall Mall London complete with parade scabbard. Presentation panel towards tip reads as follows: This sword belonged to Colonel The Hon BLE John Constantine Stanley Grenadier Guards whilst serving from 1857 to 1862 as ADC to Earl Canning Viceroy of India. It was given by Colonel Stanley on leaving the Viceroy’s staff to Major Roberts V C ( afterwards F M Earl Roberts) who returned it to Mrs Stanley on her husbands death. Lieutenant-Colonel Stanley also served in the Crimea and was entitled to the Medal and Sebastopol clasp along with the Turkish Medal
