French Flintlock Pistol by Martin of Angers c 1690 Very early pistol Martin is recorded in Angers between 1680 and 1710, but his Christian name is not known. Angers was one of the principal provincial gun making centres – other significant Angers gunmakers were Boular, Bleiberg and Pierre Monlong. Although the name is very worn you can with a glass make it out. The pistol shows some age repairs to the stock and the barrel markings are also worn but visible please see images.
