French 1816 Foot Artillery Sidearm – 59

All brass hilt, grip with stepped scale pattern, crossguard marked with no 414, Pommel with raised eagle of the second Empire on both sides.  Distinctive steel Gladius type double edged blade with twin and single fullers on each side. Blade marked Manufe Rale du Klingenthal on one ricasso and Mars 1818 plus two inspection stamps on the other. In its brass mounted black leather scabbard, locket numbered 337. Length 629mm Blade 482mm.
