English Brass Hilted Backsword c.1740

English Brass Hilted Backsword c.1740 3/4 basket-hilt consisting of four longitudinal knuckle-guards extending from the bun shaped pommel stamped 2 TP possibly indicating 2nd Troop ? complete with extended tang button. The spaces between the guards are filled by large S shaped. The grip is covered in fish-skin and secured with twisted brass wire. Straight single edged blade becoming double edged towards the point and carries a Solingen makers mark with single fuller.
