British Percussion Pistol c 1864 by R Garden – Scinde Horse

This pistol by R S Garden, London was ordered in 1846 by General John Jacobs for the officer’s of 2nd Scinde Irregular Horse. The 225mm long browned twist barrel with back sight on the tang and a brass bead fore sight is marked on the top flat R S Garden 200 Piccadilly London. The barrel has a smoothbore of about .65 calibre secured to the stock by one flat key and a steel captive ramrod to the underside of the fore end. The pistol has an engraved dolphin hammer engraved lock plate marked to the 2nd Scinde Irregular Horse. Full walnut stock chequered grip, engraved white metal mounts and lion head butt cap with lanyard ring with a blank escutcheon on the wrist top.
