A Pair of Flintlock Holster Pistols by E. Couna early 18th century brass barrels lined with steel and decorated with raised slender panels plus matching fore-sight and engraved brass tang. Bevelled brass lock engraved with foliage and crest moons, figured walnut full stock carved with foliage and side-plates pierced with a design of scrolling foliage and a stylised figures. The trigger-guard with foliate terminal, spurred pommel and escutcheon with a portrait oval complete with horn tipped ram rods overall length 55cm – Elisabeth Couna was the daughter of the Liège gunmaker Jean Francois Couna. She is recorded retailing firearms in the latter part of the 18th Century, presumably following her father’s death in 1767
