10th Hussars Officer’s Pattern 1912 by Wilkinson – Lieutenant-General Norrie

A superb 10th Hussars 1912 pattern sword by Wilkinson Sword No 58652 regulation special hilt with 3 bars and fish skin grip. The blade in good condition engraved with GR and Crown with owners initials one side C W M N – Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie the reverse with the 11th Hussars regimental badge so we can only assume that when he moved regiments from the 11th to the 10th his 1912 sword was re hilted It is complete with dress knot some age wear and both scabbards parade and field which is fitted with frog plus leather storage bad again with initials C W M N
Notes: Lieutenant-General Charles Willoughby Moke Norrie, 1st Baron Norrie, GCMG, GCVO, CB, DSO, MC & Bar, was a senior officer of the British Army who fought in both World Wars, following which he served terms as Governor of South Australia and the eighth Governor-General of New Zealand.
