RNAS ACD WW1 Medal Group and RAF WW2 Medal Group
£1,150.00
Royal Naval Air Service Armoured Cars medal group to Lutz. He served at Galipoli and the War Medal has Gallipoli bar. It is a trio with 1914-15 Star, War and Victory. What is interesting about it is he was German immigrant to Britain. When he joined the RNAS ACD in 1914 his last name was Lutz. However, two months after joining his entire family changed their last name to Lacey. This recorded in a newspaper article but the Navy never changed the records. The last name Lutz was erased and replaced with Lacey. All the rest of the medal’s info is officially impressed with initials, rank and unit. The group includes his son Ian Lacey’s medals. He joined the RAF and was immediately placed in their intelligence service. He was an interpreter during discussions held with the Nazis before war broke out and was involved with German related intelligence work throughout the war. He has the 39-45, France Germany, War and defence. Please see images regarding condition
