Victorian Albert Pattern South Salopian Yeomanry Helmet. Helmet Plate with white metal hobnail star mounted with an oval strap inscribed with regimental title and enclosing the three Leopards masks of Shropshire. Complete with leather liner, red over white horse hair plume which is correct for the 1871 pattern helmet so can only assume this earlier South Salopian helmet fitted with a later plume to confirm with The Shropshire Yeomanry, for reference please see Head dress of the British Army heavy Cavalry page 163 by David Rowe note no chin chain.
