East India Company Cavalry Sword c 1800 with steel half basket hilt pierced with scrolls and owner initials GSS. Turned down quill ion plane backstop and stepped pommel, the fish skin grip bound with silver wire. The curved blue and gilt blade etched with scrolled foliage and coats or arms with rampant lion holding orb plus crossed union flags and the motto Auspicio regis et senatus Anglae. Also there are 2clear panels to each side of the blade an it is complete with refurbished steel scabbard with leather inserts and two loose rings. Overall length 106cm the blade 90cm
