Royal Cheshire Royal Engineers Officers Helmet belonging to
Lieutenant-Colonel Sir Arthur Leetham KCVO, CMG (1859-1933) was a distinguished British Army officer who served with the Royal Monmouthshire Royal Engineers in the late 1890s, eventually rising to the rank of Major before transferring to the regular Royal Engineers as a Lieutenant-Colonel. Born in Hull, Leetham originally joined the West Norfolk Militia in 1877 before serving with the 20th Hussars and 13th Hussars, taking part in the Sudan Expedition 1885–1886. He transitioned to the Royal Monmouth Engineers in 1898 and then to a regular Royal Engineers which we assume must have been Cheshire. In excellent condition, blue cloth helmet with white metal fittings and regimental plate and complete with transit tin with name plaque and makers details Hawkes and Co London.
