Ottoman Shamshir (sword) 19th Century

Ottoman Shamshir or sword early 19th Century with curved single-edged blade of wootz steel, with a calligraphic cartouche to one side. The horn grip-scales and iron tang shaped for the fingers and rising to a bulbous pommel with small chin linking it to the up turned cross guard the opposite side being down swept. The scabbard iron with two raised bands each with a ring for suspension. The sword is untouched and made to a very high standard. Overall length 91cm the blade 78cm
