Officer’s Mameluke Hilted Sword 19th Century

A very high quality mameluke sword or sabre with mother of pearl grips secured by gilt studs. The hilt consisting of the backstop and cross guard is gilt cast which is very detailed showing no damage or wear. This is repeated in the scabbard fitting which again are very fine and form part of the leather covered scabbard which is tooled and filled with gilt decoration. The blade is engraved with trophies of arms and floral decoration for most of it’s entire length. There is one small are of staining toward the tip on one side, please see images, the sword is 38 inches in length with a blade of 32 inches.
