London Colt Navy Revolver WD Issue c 1855

London Colt Navy Revolver serial number 18801 manufactured in early 1855, all matching except the wedge. Grey patina with walnut grip, all stamped correctly with V R crown and London proof marks plus W D and broad arrow. The barrel stamped ADDRESS COL. COLT LONDON and the serial number places the revolver within the contract placed by the Royal Navy for the Baltic and Black Sea Fleets, this is also confirmed by the stamp on the grip indicating it was inspected in Southampton prior to being issued. Please note the small hole in the grips probably allowing a lanyard to be fitted plus crisp action and indexing.
