Imperial Russian Officer’s Pickelhaube c 1840

Original Black lacquered leather as worn by Imperial Russian officers in the nineteenth century in as found condition. The high-peaked helmet is crowned with a cruciform topped with a finial spike in the form of a flaming shell supported by cross section. The front of the helmet is fitted with a brass plate in the form of a Russian double-headed eagle beneath a crown, a shield bearing the regimental number 32. The body and front peak shows some deformation and the left chin chain fitting is loose please see images. A leather chin strap covered with brass scales is fitted over the front visor, internal liner missing.
