English Rapier, Circa 1640 super condition, This type of of sword was carried by both sides during the English Civil War with slender tapering double edged blade of flattened diamond section, with a deep central fuller on both sides, pierced with four gaps and dots with swordsmiths name Koller Clemens recorded as working in Solingen c 1610 Iron hilt comprising shallow cup-guard chiselled with foliage and fruit against a punched back-ground, outer side ring above chiselled and decorated en suite, linked to the knuckle guard with down curved bar decorated with a fish, the knuckle-guard screwed to the pommel with elaborate scrolling screw, one straight quillon, one down-turned with bud-shaped terminals, globular pommel engraved with foliage, with button terminal, original spirally twist grip bound with copper wire between Turks heads. Overall length 104cm the blade 86.5cm
