British Naval General Service Medal with Syria Clasp and St Jean D’acre medal which was awarded by The Sultan of Turkey for involvement in the liberation of Syria both in untouched condition and named to GEO RICHARDS – 1840 Campaign Service: He served as a Midshipman off the coast of Syria and was actively present at the decisive Bombardment of Acre on 3rd November 1840. Medal Entitlement: Because he survived well past the medal’s introduction in 1847, he was officially awarded the silver Naval General Service Medal with the Syria clasp. He was also issued the Turkish St. Jean d’Acre Medal by the Sultan of Turkey. Later Career: He went on to achieve global renown for his maritime surveying work notably commanding HMS Plumper in British Columbia before being promoted to Admiral and receiving a knighthood
