The black patent leather skull and trencher top, the latter with side panels of black cloth with gilt-brass supports and oak leaf corner mounts, black patent leather peak with metal trim, gilt-metal waist-band of plaited design and similar circular plume rosette, the latter with central regimental button, multi-rayed gilt-metal frontal plate overlaid with a silver mount displaying crowned thistle sprays, Lanarkshire Yeomanry and double-headed eagle, a scroll below for South Africa 1900-02 lion-mask supporters and lined chin-chain, the interior with leather sweat-band, crimson silk lining with maker mark Hawes and Co london complete with its black horse hair plume and correct pattern gilt-metal plume-holder plus lines.
