6th Inniskilling Dragoons Officers 1871 Helmet - Named

A British officer’s 1871 pattern 6th or Inniskilling Dragoons 1871 pattern white metal helmet with gilt ornamentation and a white horse hair plume. The silver plated skull has a band of laurel leaves to the front in gilt, above this is a twelve pointed gilt star upon which sits on a oval title strap with the words Inniskilling Dragoons and surmounted in the centre with the castle of Inniskilling and below this the roman numerals VI. The gilt spike has a white horse hair plume with a rose boss and is complete with matching ear bosses which secure the velvet lined chin chain to the helmet. The front and rear peaks are lined with green leather with sweat band. Complete with transit - storage tin named to E C Bowen 6th Inniskilling Dragoons
