Flintlock Royal Mail Coach Guards Pistol by Harding

Flintlock pistol maker marked J Harding who was under royal contract to make flintlock pistols for the coach guards of His Majesty's mail coaches. Brass barrel and fittings  lock plate marked J harding as is the barrel along with Borough London No 40 and proof marks. Good working condition over all length 38cm barrel 23.5cm
Notes: James Harding is recorded as Gunmaker to General Post Office. He was at various numbers in Blackman Street, Borough, between 1810 and 1833, and in partnership with his son at various addresses in Borough from 1834 to 1843
