This is an original 18th century Spontoon, or polearm carried by officer's and later by sergeants, this example has had the wood shaft shortened; overall length 65.5 inches, the leaf shaped blade is 8 inches tall and unscrews from the faceted steel collar, the spear head is fixed to the shaft with long side bars.
